Trampolining Jump on!

It’s time to jump on the fitness bandwagon. According to NASA (yeah, the space people!) there is no better way to keep fit than a spot of bouncing.

So, with trampoline parks jumping up right across the country – including the £2.2 million Better Extreme Trampoline Park at the Sobell Leisure Centre in Islington – why not make March the month you spring into action?

Not just for kids
Trampolining has been popular in the US for some time and now the UK’s caught the bounce bug too… and not just in our back gardens to appease the little folk. Currently, there’s more than 150 trampoline parks dotted around the country and at least 20% of the bouncers using them are adults.

An all-round workout
Trampolining makes for a great cardio workout, strengthens limbs the low-impact way and can de-stress both body and mind. A study by NASA has shown that, for all-round benefits, bouncing is “the most efficient and effective exercise yet devised by man”. Furthermore, a 10-minute session can burn an impressive 42 calories.

Brand-new park in the capital
Sobell’s Better Extreme Trampoline Park was officially opened by the Mayor of Islington, Una O’Halloran, on 2nd February and cool features include dodgeball, basketball and foam pits (the safe way to land those fledging acrobatics).

There’s a session for everyone – from toddlers to over-55s – and they’re nicely priced too (adults from £5.95, juniors from £3.95).
