Cricket is a very English sport, one with a rich history and a unique structure that even involves breaks for tea. There are many formats of the game of cricket, the most notable being Test, 50-over and Twenty20 which are all played by the England teams. The former of these can last for up to five days. Other formats of the game are played by adults and children both outdoors and indoors. The game can be adapted to suit all ages and abilities. International, national, county and club competitions exist for men, women and disabled players along with age group competitions for young people.

The game is played between two teams of 11 players surrounding two wickets in the centre of the field. The purpose of these for scoring points called ‘runs’ which are achieved by hitting a ball and running between the wickets successfully. The game has many similarities to baseball, but the ball is allowed to bounce before being hit by the batsman. The throwing of the ball is called a ‘pitch’ but the thrower is called the bowler. However, more similar to baseball is the way that teams trade from being up to bat and in the outfield.
