DIVE IN!

The last few years have seen the popularity of diving skyrocket in the UK, and with that comes growth in the grassroots level of the sport. Between the excellent facilities that continue to pop up around the country and the spread of diving academies, there has never been a better time to get into diving! The ASA website has all the information you could possibly want about the sport of diving in the UK, from glossary terms to where to check out the latest championships.

GET STARTED

The ASA have a handy facility finder and on their website. Most swimming pools that have diving boards will have lessons available for diving and the ASA offers an awards scheme of badges for divers looking to improve. In order to get started in any lessons, you must be able to swim in 4m of water without too much difficulty and be confident in entering the water headfirst.

JOIN THE CLUB

Check out the ASA’s ‘Joining a Diving Club’ page to read about the differences of Masters and Novice diving to decide what kind of club is for you. For England club listings, check the ASA guide to regional Swimming clubs here. For outside of England, check out the Scottish Swimming or Welsh Swimming websites.

VOLUNTEERING

The ASA have a section of their website entirely devoted to volunteer training and event offer awards to outstanding volunteers. Go straight here to get started.

COACHING

ASA levels of coaching for diving are split up in the same way as those for swimming. In addition to listing courses, providing guidelines to all qualifications and offering support to existing coaches, the ASA teaching and coaching website also details funding opportunities for teachers and coaches.
