Welcome to the heart of grassroots sports where you can discover new sports and connect with communities that share your passion

  • Baby steps

    Baby steps

After securing a small amount funding from social entrepreneurial charity, UnLtd, this allowed Nasar (founder) to build a business plan and solid case to produce his passion project – and it worked as the first edition was published in July 2007.

  • The Becks effect

    The Becks effect

The David Beckham interview really helped Leisure Kicks’ profile back in 2010 as it was the first time we met and interviewed a major athlete. Roll on to 2025 and we have loved interviewing many athletes ranging from Usain Bolt to Leah Williamson, Laura Kenny to Dina-Asher-Smith and Matt Whitlock to Adam Peaty.

  • Lockdown leaders

    Lockdown leaders

A poignant time for grassroots sports and Leisure Kicks was proud to partner with community sports clubs, grassroots organisations and publish content despite the pandemic and appreciated the support from athletes who were paying it back at that time – Marcus Rashford included.

  • LK values

    Leisure Kicks values

Since 2007 Leisure Kicks has followed the values of honesty, integrity, independent, authoritative and community when it comes to curating and publishing content. Something we are proud of following.

  • Grassroots first

    Grassroots first

The launch of the new website gives Leisure Kicks the chance to speak directly to grassroots sports clubs, volunteers and coaches and learn about their sports and clubs at ground-level – good or bad. The ultimate aim is to get more people involved and playing sport.

Leisure Kicks supports

As well as the annual guide, Leisure Kicks organises and delivers an Active Living Tour, poster campaigns and sponsors local grassroots sports teams

We have worked with the sports network and education sector since 2007 delivering branded goody bags that are used to encourage sports participation and sign-ups. The education sector include FE Colleges (16-18) and universities (18-24-plus) where their Enrichment teams, sports clubs and academies purchase goody bags as an incentive for students to sign-up to play sport.

The Sports Network includes major and independent gyms, sports centres, NGB events, sports academies, yoga and Pilates studios where goody bags are offered for sign-ups for various initiatives ranging from increasing memberships to increasing footfall at local events.

Leisure Kicks is funded to produce various poster campaigns throughout the year with varied targets and locations. Posters are A2, carry a call to action and community-based message based on health and wellbeing and locations include the education sector, GP surgeries, physio rooms, community hubs through to garden centres.

Grassroots sport clubs are important to local communities. They create a sense of unity, get us physically active and should bring varied backgrounds together with a common cause – play sport. But funds, volunteers, organising and general day to day bills can be crippling so Leisure Kicks support them with content based around them, and sponsors a handful of sports clubs every year by providing support grants and sponsoring team kits. From Old Grammarians Rugby Club to Middlesex University Mavericks Basketball Club, Leisure Kicks is proud to support grassroots sports clubs.
