Golf isn’t just about hitting the ball and hoping for the best – it comes in all kinds of fun formats
Here are some of the most popular ways to play:
Match play
A head-to-head showdown! Each hole is its own mini-battle, where players can win, lose, or tie. The golfer who wins the most holes takes the victory.
Stroke play (medal play)
Every shot counts! Players tally up all their strokes, and the lowest total wins. In handicap competitions, golfers get to use their playing handicap to level the playing field.
Stableford
A points-based system that rewards good holes without totally ruining your round if you have a couple of bad ones. Perfect for keeping things fun and competitive!
Texas scramble
A team favourite. Everyone tees off, and the best shot is chosen. From there, the whole team plays from that spot, repeating the process until the ball is in the hole. Teamwork makes the dream work.
Foursomes
A true test of partnership. Two players take turns hitting the same ball, alternating shots until the hole is complete. One player tees off on odd-numbered holes, the other on evens.
Greensomes
Like foursomes, but with a twist! Both players tee off, then pick the best drive before alternating shots from there. A mix of strategy and teamwork!
No matter the format, golf is all about enjoying the game, challenging yourself, and having a great time on the course!
