Padel continues its rapid rise in the UK – and now, with a new strategic partnership between the LTA and UK PADEL, the UK PADEL County Championships are set to reach new heights in 2025.

The LTA, the national governing body for tennis and padel in Britain, will officially sanction the County Championships as a Grade 3 event for the first time.

This key milestone means players can now earn LTA ranking points, strengthening padel’s place within the domestic competitive landscape and aligning with the LTA’s ambition to expand and formalise the national padel calendar.

The 2025 Championships will also mark the debut of an Under-18 category, offering junior players the opportunity to represent their counties alongside existing age groups: Open, Over 40s, Over 50s, and Over 60s. This move further supports the development of Britain’s junior talent and creates a more inclusive competition pathway.

The partnership combines the LTA’s deep experience in county-level competition – having run the tennis Summer County Cup since 1895 – with UK PADEL’s growing influence in grassroots and amateur event delivery. Together, they aim to bring more counties, more players, and more communities into the sport.

“The support of the LTA will help us elevate the County Championships and grow participation nationwide,” said Nick Baker, CEO and Co-Founder of UK PADEL.

Tom Murray, LTA Head of Padel, added: “By working together with UK PADEL, we can make the sport more accessible and provide meaningful opportunities at the grassroots level.”

The 2025 Championships will be held at Rocket Padel Bristol with events running from April to November. Sponsors include Hexa, ACT Sports, Lauralu, Punchy Drinks, Bilko, and Head – the official ball provider for 2025.
