EARLY YEARS

How did you get involved in your sport?
My dad introduced me to it and took me down to the local club and driving range.

What made you choose this sport over others?
Golf has so many aspects to it so you can never get bored of it, there is always an opportunity to improve as you can never master it.

Tell us about your first success in your sport?
Winning the Abraham Trophy when I was 13 and gaining the title of England’s Most Improved Girl Golfer. This event was a turning point for me as I started to focus on golf as my main sport.

HEROES

Who were your sporting heroes growing up?
My heroes were golfers Justin Rose and Georgia Hall and footballer Kalvin Phillips.

Who in your sport now do you most admire and why?
I still admire Justin Rose, not only for his achievements in the game but for the amount he gives back and supports females in the sport – such as creating the Justin Rose Ladies Series.

TRAINING

How often do you train?
I train six days a week and on average between 30-35 hours a week.

What is your favourite drill?
Having to hole three putts in a row from 3, 5, 7ft at compass points around the hole. It helps create pressure – particularly over the final putt!

MOTIVATION

Do you have a mental exercise you complete or something/someone you think about?
I focus a lot on visualisation before the event and during my pre-shot routine.

What’s been your greatest sporting moment so far?
Winning the Welsh Ladies’ Open Stroke Play Championship with scores of 76,67,70 (-3 total).

NUTRITION

Which foods fuel your training?
I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. My favourites are strawberries and grapes.

How does nutrition improve your performance?
It helps keep me energised so I can concentrate and train, it also helps me recover.

TOP TIPS

What’s the hardest skill in your sport to perfect?
Probably a 40-50 yard bunker shot as you’re not faced with them very often and they can be difficult to execute.

FUN STUFF

Are there any sports you aren’t good at?
Gymnastics!

How do you unwind away from sport?
Watching TV, particularly my team Leeds United play – although watching them can be more stressful than playing sport!

GRASSROOTS

What would you say to someone thinking about trying your sport?
I would say definitely do it, join a golf club with a great junior section and have fun!
