The time has come to honour squash’s vital coaches and unsung heroes as the 2025 England Squash Awards officially open for nominations

Every year the awards offer a welcome opportunity to shine a light on the hard-working grassroots facilitators who have made a positive impact on the sport.

From inspirational coaches and committed referees to devoted volunteers and emerging stars, the awards – now in its eighth year – will recognise the individuals and clubs whose dedication to squash is unmatched,

The awards span seven categories, designed to honour contributions across different roles and levels. The full list of awards are:

  • Coach of the Year
  • Unsung Hero of the Year
  • Club/venue of the Year
  • Referee of the Year
  • Rising Star of the Year
  • Young volunteer/coach of the Year
  • Diversity and Inclusion Champion of the Year

Each category is decided on specific criteria that emphasise their impact, including innovative coaching approaches, long-term grassroots service, exceptional facility outreach, officiating quality, or early career breakthroughs

Last year’s winners included The Queen’s Club Foundation – which won club/venue of the year for delivering free squash coaching to 221 local schoolchildren – Diversity and Inclusion Champion Hannah Hodgson – recognised for creating tailored sessions that boosted female participation in Stockport – and Unsung Hero winner Martin Braybrook, who was recognised for over forty years of service at Cromer Squash Club. Pontefract Squash Club’s Jayne Robinson was named Coach of the Year, and you can read our interview with Jayne here.

Encouraging those in the squash community to get nominating, England Squash CEO Mark Williams said, “The England Squash Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the dedication and passion of the people who help our sport thrive. I’d encourage everyone involved in squash to take a moment to nominate someone whose impact deserves to be recognised.”

Nominations are now open and will close at midnight on Sunday 21 September 2025. Winners will be announced in December and honoured at a presentation during the 2026 British Junior Open in January.
