Six Nations inspiration

We bring you the latest championship news and reveal how to play and fuel up like a rugby pro

The fifth round of the 2020 Guinness Six Nations rugby championship is upon us – a handful of nail-biting showdowns are just around the corner. Here’s the lowdown on the games and what to do if they inspire you into action…

Catch all the live action
On Saturday 31st October, three matches will be played and beamed into living rooms via terrestrial TV.

There’s Wales versus Scotland (Parc y Scarlets, Carmarthenshire and aired on BBC Sport), Italy versus England (Stadio Olimpico, Rome, watch on ITV Sport) and France versus Ireland (Stade de France, Paris, watch on BBC Sport).

England, Ireland and France are still contenders for the championship title. Ireland tops the table on 14 points and needs to beat France to win, England is in second place with 13 and needs to reign victorious over Italy, and France would need to outscore Ireland and achieve a better result than England against Italy to lift that cup. All is to play for, literally.

It’s on-the-edge-of-your-sofa stuff, but will it inspire you to get active?

Discover your place in rugby
Whether you are brand new to the sport or returning after a hiatus, rugby will benefit your cardiovascular fitness, boost endurance and upper and lower body strength, and much more.

Additionally, it can be a hugely social sport too, so head over the England Rugby Get Involved pages to plan your next move. And don’t forget, rugby isn’t just a guys’ game. Millions of women worldwide have embraced and continue to excel in the sport and the Red Roses (yes, that’s the England Senior Women’s team) won the 2020 Women’s Six Nations championship last week.

There are also opportunities/routes available for would-be coaches and referees or you could look at becoming a volunteer.

And, if you’re looking to ensure your body is properly fuelled when your rugby adventure kicks off, LK recommends you check out the impressive jerky and biltong from Kings Elite Snacks (might be worth getting some in as you tune into the matches too).

Kings Elite was founded by former England rugby union players in 2014 and the brand is now the official meat and protein snack supplier of England Rugby

The tender and delicious British-made snacks are packed with protein, low in calories, sat fat and sugar, gluten free and crafted from 100% British and Irish beef (aside from the moreish and vegan-friendly Veggie Jerky, that is). They’ve even added bacon and salmon jerky options to the range; TV munchies and post-play snacking never tasted so good.

Protein snacks are perfect for those on the go or exercising, helping build and strengthen muscles and boost the immune system.

Kings Elite Snacks are available to buy at Sainsbury’s, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Co-Op, Waitrose, Aldi, Lidl and Ocado.
