Virtual globetrotting

Cancelled flights, closed hotels and two lockdowns – when it comes to travel, for many, this year has been a non-starter

However, here at LK, we have high hopes that 2021 will be different and we can all spread our wings internationally once more hopefully Spring onwards...

In the meantime, why not use this time to grab a sneak preview of what’s to come by virtually visiting some of the places on your travel wish list? Or maybe you’ve no plans to jet off any day soon but want to lose yourself in other lands during these unpredictable times?

Here’s a few recommended online destinations…

Talk with the animals
If you’ve always dreamt of going on safari in Africa (we know we have), you’ll love what &BEYOND has to offer. Its Bringing Africa Home virtual series has everything from cookery classes to playlists to enchant you, but it’s the amazing WILDWatch LIVE safaristhat have got us hooked. Livestreamed twice a day (check site for times), you can ‘cheetah’ yourself you’re actually there and even catch up on previous drives. It’s free to access, but if you can afford it, you can book a privately guided virtual safari and even chat live with one of the WILDWatch guides.

Fall in love with the Louvre
Is there a more iconic painting than the Mona Lisa? Well, now, you don’t have to hotfoot it to Paris to see it up close and discover the rich history behind it, simply click here to download the very special app courtesy of the generous Louvre Museum. There’s a host of other virtual tours available and it’s a great way to get you into the spirit of seeing Europe again – or for the first time with bright, wide eyes – whilst enjoying a spot of culture and learning from a comfy chair.

Around the world in a few clicks
We are absolutely addicted to CYARK, which allows you to stand nose-to-nose with some of the world’s most wondrous landmarks, buildings, temples, memorials and museums. Using a mix of 3D visuals, virtual and guided tours and in-depth histories, you can literally travel this entire precious planet of ours to sightsee (and be educated) without spending a £1. Highlights include: the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York; the Ancient Corinth in Greece; the stunning Moai statues of Ahu Nau Nau on Easter Island; the Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia; and our own Tower of London

Put your passport on hold – just open your eyes and mind and enjoy!
