Walking is one of the easiest ways to keep active and enjoy some great health benefits too. Studies have shown that a regular brisk walk can help you maintain a healthy weight and lose body fat while also increasing energy levels. It’s also a natural mood booster and can reduce stress and tension too.

One of the best things about walking is it can be enjoyed solo or within a group.

Joining a walking group can have many advantages, not least providing you with the opportunity to meet like-minded people who also share the same passion. 

study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that walking groups contribute to wide-ranging health benefits including significant improvements in lung strength, blood pressure and body mass index.

Walking can also have mental health benefits too. The study revealed that adults who joined a walking club experienced less stress and a lower risk of depression. It’s never been easier to join a walking group – or even start one of your own.

Ramblers are at the heart of walking in the UK and have more than 300,000 people walking with them every year.

This includes a mix or urban hikes, countryside strolls or all-day challenging hikes in some of the most remote and beautiful UK countryside.
