Trail running allows you to experience the thrill of running through spectacular landscapes without worrying about the roads. Forest England has a number of great routes for you to explore and here’s some more to give you inspiration.

Pen-y-Ghent, Yorkshire Dales
A part of the famous Three Peaks Challenge in Yorkshire, Pen-y-Ghent is a classic on the fell racing calendar that also takes in neighbouring Ingleborough and Whernside. Enjoy panoramic views after a gruelling run to reach the peak.

Coed-y-Brenin, Snowdonia
Home to Britain’s first dedicated trail running centre, Run Coed-y-Brenin, is situated in the 9,000 acre Coed-y-Brenin forest park in the southern reaches of Snowdonia. From there, explore a number of varied trail running routes, from trail marathons to three-hour endurance night events.

Richmond Park
Rolling hills with an Olympic Games connection and a royal history, Richmond Park is the perfect park for trail running. Situated just a few miles from the centre of London, the rugged countryside features roaming deer and a lake to run around.

New Forest
Run through ancient woodland and beautiful heathland on one of the New Forest’s 202 running trail routes. Gentle rolling hills cater for runners of all abilities while the number of quaint villages dotted throughout the countryside make for great refreshment stops.
