If you are just starting out in rowing, then you will likely be renting or being loaned the major equipment from the facility or club you are starting at. Boats and oars are a huge investment, especially for beginners, so here we will just stick to what you should have when arriving for lesson number one! Depending on the weather, you may want to bring along extra layers, a hat and gloves.

All in one: A lycra all in one suit is a standard piece of rowing kit. During warm weather it is worn by itself and in winter can be worn as one of many layers.
