For people with busy lifestyles, exercise has always been a way to unwind and to help cope with life’s challenges. Yoga takes this idea to the next level with the goal of transforming the mind as well as the body through movement. Everyone can practice yoga, regardless of age, sex or ability. Yoga is a classical Indian practice that offers us a holistic approach to body, mind and spirit, which can provide us with the ‘tools’ to cope with day to day life. Yoga can also complement medical science and therapy for specific conditions such as back problems.

The physical aspect of yoga is based around a series of poses, which are called asanas. Some of the benefits include increased strength and flexibility as well as improved balance and endurance. The poses are accompanied by fluid movements and focus on breathing. All together yoga is less of a sport than a practice. However, there are more competitive forms as well as classes to meet any objective you may have.

What attracts many people to yoga is what it offers beyond the physical advantages. It is known to reduce stress and help with anxiety. Studies have also found that regular practice of yoga can affect moods and even help you sleep easier.
