The rules for squash/racketball, put simply, are that you hit a ball against a wall –and don’t miss! It’s as easy as that. Like with all sports, the full rules are detailed and comprehensive, so to make it as easy as possible for you we have summarised the rules. Here are some basics to get you started:

A point is gained if your opposing player hits the ball “out” or if they let the ball bounce twice. The line running around the top of the court is called the out line, anything above or on this line is classed as out. You start a rally by hitting the ball with an underarm or overarm serve. Your serve must go above the middle line, called the service line, which lies on the front wall between the tin – the area below the lowest line on the front wall – and out lines. If your swing is impeded by your opponent, a let is called and the point is replayed. Do not hit the ball if you think you may strike your opponent, always stop and ask for a let.
